Pearly Everlasting comes from meadows, woodlands, prairies, and forest openings across much of North America, including California. It grows quickly and upright to 1-2 feet tall and 2-3 feet wide, but is short-lived. It enjoys sun to part shade and most well-drained soils. It can often be found growing in recently disturbed areas, such as areas that were recently burned.
