     Register today for this FREE English QWEL certification training course sponsored by Sonoma-Marin Saving Water Partnership and hosted by Marin Water.

 
The QWEL training will be taught in English and facilitated in-person by one of our highly rated QWEL certified instructors and is available to people who are any of the following:

People seeking their first QWEL Certificate
QWEL certified professionals that would like to attend or all some of the sessions to use as a refresher and obtain CEU’s.
QWEL Professionals that have let their certification lapse and would like to get recertified (exam is required)
Former students who would like to brush up on their auditing skills 

Space is limited, registration closes when sessions are full.
The in-person classes will cover all sections of the QWEL reference manual. This includes topics on:
Session 1: June 3rd* (6 CEUs available)

Local and statewide water regulations and rebate information
Sustainable landscape design principles
Soil properties and health
Plant water needs part 1

Session 2: June 10th* (6 CEUs available)

Plant water needs part 2
Irrigation system troubleshooting and maintenance
Overhead spray irrigation system audits part 1

Session 3: June 17th, hands on audit (6 CEUs available)

Overhead spray irrigation system audits, part 2 (hands on) (required for QWEL certification)
Irrigation system programming and operation
Irrigation controllers overview

Session 4: June 24th, Exam day

QWEL Certification exam (required by all students seeking a certificate, or for recertification)

 
QWEL Reference Manual will be available on loan for each student to use for the duration of the training and returned after the exam is complete. Attendees can also choose to purchase a physical copy of the QWEL Reference Manual here or download a PDF copy of the QWEL Reference Manual for free here.
In order to obtain QWEL certification, individuals must complete an irrigation audit (covered in class) and pass the QWEL exam. The QWEL exam will be administered in-person on June 24th.
*Recordings are available for sessions 1 and 2
Additional details will be provided prior to the class after you register. 

Those who earn their QWEL certification will be listed as a Certified Professional on the QWEL and U.S. EPA WaterSense websites.

By registering for this class, you are committing to attend all of the following sessions:

Corte Madera location: Wednesday, June 3, 2026 from 7:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Corte Madera location: Wednesday, June 10, 2026 from 7:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Marin Art and Garden Center location-Audit Day: Wednesday, June 17, 2026 from 7:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Marin Art and Garden Center location-Exam Day: Wednesday, June 24, 2026 from 7:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

There will be a 30-minute lunch break. Lunch will be provided by Marin Water for those who have registered prior to the session date.

Since the launch of his independent eco-landscape contracting firm in 2011, Christopher Reamer has worked extensively throughout California at the cutting edge of landscape water conservation. Awarded the “Water Awareness of the Year” award in 2013 from the City of Santa Rosa for extensive work with the development of greywater, rainwater and high-efficiency irrigation systems, Chris has instructed over 40 landscape water conservation trainings in both English and Spanish, installed over 60 greywater irrigation systems and numerous water efficient landscapes for diverse clients throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.
